Full-Stack Engineer

We're looking for an innovative, creative problem solver to help us build new features for all of the great schools we work with. We're a team of experienced generalists who believe in elegant design from the data model to front-end interfaces. Our platform is built on robust, homemade frameworks that make it easy to plug-in new features seamlessly.

Projects will range from solving needs for individual clients — like building custom student report cards, to tackling large-scale new features from start to finish. Candidates should have familiarity with developing applications on a similar front/back-end stacks and be comfortable switching back and forth as needed.

Great candidates should have

  • Advanced proficiency in front-end programming (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
  • Strong familiarity with a front-end libraries/frameworks like jQuery (React experience is a big plus)
  • 2+ years experience writing code in PHP (object-oriented experience is a plus)
  • Experience with relational databases like MySQL
  • Strong design sense and an ability to present data in a readable and intuitive way
  • Experience developing against published API specifications
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to translate technical issues and concerns into non-technical terms
  • Most important: an interest in improving education, empathy for teachers, and a desire to create great tools that will help schools be more effective
